22nd DS-ISMRM PhD training virtual from Erlangen
From 22 to 24 November 2021, the 22nd DS-ISMRM PhD training will be held virtually from Erlangen with the topic “MRI in radiology”.
Magnetic resonance imaging is widely used in radiology. But when is an MRI examination performed? And when rather a CT or ultrasound examination? And if an MRI is indicated, which sequences are used?
This year’s PhD training aims to provide some answers to these questions. We start with a short introduction to hardware, acquisition and reconstruction methods. Basic contrast mechanisms such as T1, T2, diffusion or flux weighting will be explained. Also in which cases and why contrast-enhanced examinations are necessary will be explained. Our focus is on the value of MRI in different diagnostic areas like ‘Neuro’, ‘Cardiovascular’ or ‘Prostate’. Experienced radiologists will discuss the standard procedures, their limitations and express specific “wishes”, which MRI research will hopefully be able to fulfill in the future.
