3rd place at the Gorter Award 2023
At the 25th annual meeting of the German Section of the ISMRM in Berlin, the Gorter Award was again awarded to young scientists for their outstanding scientific work in the field of magnetic resonance.
Dr. Jannis Hanspach from the research group Laun won the third place, endowed with 250€.
He was awarded for his paper “Deep learning-based quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) in the presence of fat using synthetically generated multi-echo phase training data” (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/mrm.29265).
In the study, he developed a fast and automated method using Deep Learning to generate quantitative susceptibility maps for areas outside the brain with different chemical properties. This approach proved to be much faster, more accurate, and eliminated the need for complex background masking compared to conventional methods, making it a promising tool for various medical applications.
Congratulations!
