Strongly driven by biological and clinical questions, the Smart Imaging Lab combines advanced MR physics, computer science, data science and AI to develop targeted techniques to provide more eloquent data, analysis tools and novel avenues for scientific exploration.
Our methodological focus areas are “MRI in responsive mode – Real-time AI-guided MRI”, “Bespoke multi-dimensional continuous contrast acquisition and “Individualized disease and treatment modelling” with three chosen target applications.
The lab’s activities are currently between King’s College London and FAU and the offered projects include collaboration with researchers at both institutions.
Open projects:
Automatic detection of foetal position and placental location on low-field foetal MRI
Modelling & visualizing periodic uterine motion at different stages of the menstrual cycle using MRI
Separating maternal breathing motion, fetal motion and uterine contractility on dynamic foetal MRI scans using low rank + sparsity decompositions
Dynamic 3D reconstruction of the stomach
Visualizing swallowing using real-time MRI
A background in maths, physics, medical engineering, computer science, data science or neighbouring areas and programming experience is helpful but can be discussed on an individual basis.
Individual projects around the outlined methodological focus areas are of course possible. Please get in touch for any further questions and inquiries!
